Team of the Decade: Amy Froud

Our next selection for the Team of the Decade at fullback is Amy ‘Casj’ Froud.

Casj joined the club in 2012, having moved from Queensland to attend Melbourne University. Immediately her skills were apparent and she has formed a vital part of the Senior Women’s defensive line for 6 seasons since 2012.

Known for her decisive through balls and passes, overlapping runs, unwavering first touch and unbeatable defense, Casj forms both a crucial part of the attack and defense of any team she graces. Casj delivers a corner with accuracy and ease, leading to many goals scored off these in her time at MUSC. She may also win the title of ‘Most Time Spent on Floor’ for unrivalled ability to slip over while placing her perfect deliveries, however she takes the ribbing of her teammates with the humour that exemplifies Casj’s incredibly positive attitude within the team. Not only does Casj display incredible ability on the field, her performance as a leader and team-bonding off the field has been equally as important in the success of the teams she has been involved in, demonstrating the community and social spirit of MUSC.

Casj’s commitment to MUSC is epitomised by her 2017 season in the FFV State League 1. Not only did she play a pivotal role at right back for the Double Premiership and Championship winning side, she travelled from Geelong to Prinny at least twice a week to continue to train and play for the club. In a crucial Match against 2nd placed Eltham Redbacks in the 2017 season, Casj provided a perfectly weighted through ball, curling around the Eltham defensive line, to assist the winning goal and allowing MUSC to take 1st place on the ladder. Casj also played starting right back in the 2015 FFV State League 1 Grand Final winning team, beating rivals Ballarat. In 2016 she was voted Runner-Up MUSC Senior Womens Best and Fairest by her teammates. In 2014 she was also awarded the Senior Womens Coaches award.

Congratulations to Amy ‘Casj’ Froud on her inclusion in the Team of the Decade. We hope you will continue to be involved with MUSC for many years to come.
