All-Gender Game Series

Melbourne University Soccer Club is putting a call out for trans, gender diverse and queer soccer players to register their interest to participate in our All Gender Games Series in March 2021!

In May 2020, MUSC secured a Change Our Game grant from the Victorian Government’s Office for Women in Sport and Recreation (OWSR) to hold the inaugural All-Gender Game Series for trans, gender diverse and queer players in the off-season. The series will specifically cater to players who may be excluded during the regular season due to being trans or gender diverse.

Sport is a driver of social change, and with this series, MUSC seeks to support LGBTQI+ physical and mental health through fostering community in a safe space. Doing so is of the utmost importance post-lockdown in Victoria as the LGBTQI+ community statistically experiences poorer mental health outcomes than the general population. We believe that one of the best means to recover from the effects of isolation, is physical activity and connecting with others of similar lived-in experience.
Promoting inclusion remains at the forefront of our goals, as post-COVID organisations tighten up their belts and divert resources from diversity and inclusion. MUSC wants to ensure that LGBTQIs as a minority community are allocated the resources needed to participate in sport and reap its benefits.

Event Details:

  • What: Six 7-aside games (50-minutes) between four teams in round robin.
  • Who: Anyone who identifies at trans, gender diverse or queer.
  • Where: Parkville/Brunswick TBD
  • When: March-April TBD

We are also seeking  to engage female, queer and or trans referees. If you are interested in being a referee or have any questions, email the coordinator: [email protected]

MUSC would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which the all-gender game series will be held, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. MUSC extends that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who may participate in the all-gender game series.
