Team of the Decade: Heloise Gibb

Welcome to our Women’s Team of the Decade,  Heloise Gibb!

Heloise was a core member of the State 1 team in the earlier years of the decade playing in 2011 – 2013, winning the Ford-Fenwick Cup for Best & Fairest in her first season with us.

Heloise brought only the best attributes of a forward or attacking midfielder. Silky skills and clever play with an eye for goal just as much as the assist – she could thread a pass through a defensive line all day. An incredibly hard worker and selfless teammate, equally capable of placing her shot in the bottom corner or thrashing it into the net.

Incredibly strong on the ball with endless energy to pressure the opposition; a highly competitive player, super smart and technically adept – she could pretty much produce anything the team needed.

Heloise had that combination of total uncompromising play on the field and was one of the loveliest people you’d ever meet. She was a leader on game day and at training, sharing her experience and knowledge of the game to help the team grow, she was a player we all had an incredible amount of respect for.

It was a joy to watch Hel move around the field, anticipating the play, winning the ball time and again, creating opportunities and scoring goals that you would not see coming. She had a wonderful understanding of the game and knew how to make the most of her skills, not only for herself but also for her teammates.

Congratulations Hel!
